The Brazilian Navy regulated through the Maritime Authority Norms for Open Sea Navigation Vessels (NORMAM) the general requirements for these vessels. However, by means of Ordinance 311 of the Directorate of Ports and Coasts published in 2014 (Ordinance DPC No. 311, of 12-19-2014) it canceled the annex that contained the list of Brazilian medicines and medical equipment. In short, in Brazil there is no longer its own regulation.
According to ANVISA Board Resolution 72 of 2009 (Resolution No. 72 of December 29, 2009), ships in transit in national waters must have medicines and health products on board in accordance with current national or international standards. Considering that there is no national regulation in force, Brazilian-flagged vessels must follow the provisions contained in the International Medical Guide (3rd ed.).
